Flourish From Oppression Forum Theatre Project
This is your chance to take part in an innovative Forum Theatre event called Flourish From Oppression. Forum Theatre is a technique pioneered by Brazilian radical Augusto Boal to break down the barrier between performers and audiences, allowing participants to experiment with different conclusions to the stories.
For the first time locally, Forum Theatre – also known as Theatre of the Oppressed – will be used to create a safe space for members of the LGBTI community and the general public, where the intersections between sexuality, gender identity and religion can be explored.
Integrate with like-minded individuals, share your views, and build healthy relationships at Flourish From Oppression. This is a 3-part event being organised by DRACHMA in collaboration with ARC, which includes a Drachma session about the perils of conversion therapy facilitated by Fr Karm Debattista and Dr Nicholas Briffa on 1 March, a screening of the film Boy erased on 9 March and a Forum Theatre session on 16 March from 9am to 6pm.
You can apply to take part in the Forum Theatre by sending an email to drachmalgbt@gmail.com or by calling on 7925 3875. This project is supported by Arts Council Malta – President’s Award for Creativity.
