Constellations from the Quarry

28 Nov 2025 – 5 Jan 2026- 09.00AM – 5.00PM – MUZA, Auberge D’Italie, Merchants Street, Valletta, Malta
Part of the RETOLD project by Arts Council Malta, ‘Constellations from the Quarry’ presents the several outcomes which led to the installation of URNA: the award-winning Malta pavilion at the London Design Biennale 2025.
URNA proposes a future ritual for bodily disposition, using reconstituted stone to create large spherical structures arranged in the form of a constellation – a field of memory. The exhibition is not only visually intriguing, but also symbolic of the way the team worked and how their different references came together!
URNA comes at an important time, when cremation is legalised in Malta but no crematoria exist, providing an offering within this current reality. Exhibition curated by the URNA Team.

Surface Tension

30 Nov 2025 – 5 Jan 2026- 09.00AM – 5.00PM – MUZA, Auberge D’Italie, Merchants Street, Valletta, Malta
Following the success of ‘inKimika’ in 2022, ‘Surface Tension’ continues the dialogue through new explorations in contemporary printmaking.
Deeply inspired by Dutch artist Theo Elfrink (1923-2014), ‘Surface Tension’ by Jesmond Vassallo is both a homage to and continuation of his work. This exhibition reflects Vassallo’s own inner journey as an artist working between tradition and experimentation, chemistry and emotion. It celebrates the living continuation of printmaking, in which each impression carries within it both memory and renewal. Core to this exhibition is collaboration between the many artists at Atelier 10: a collaborative lithographic studio founded by Vassallo.
Artists from Switzerland, Italy, France, and Malta were invited to Atelier 10 to create contemporary lithographic prints available in the exhibition, continuing the studio’s mission to promote collaboration and innovation within this timeless medium.

Echoes of the Fleet: Royal Navy Tour and Taste History Lunch

8th December 2025 – 10.00AM – 2.30PM – Fort St Angelo, Waterfront, Birgu, Malta
Heritage Malta invites you to explore the recent history of Fort St Angelo during the British period in Malta, and to satisfy your taste buds with an exquisite Taste History lunch related to this epoch.
On 8th December 1906, Fort St Angelo entered a new historical era when it was transferred to the Admiralty and subsequently renamed as HMS St Angelo. In the following decades, the Fort served as a shore establishment, eventually becoming the ‘base ship’ of the entire Mediterranean Fleet!
It was modified to suit the operational needs of the Royal Navy and to accommodate the hundreds of British and Maltese sailors who lived and worked within its walls during its 73 years of service.
On Monday 8th December 2025, a public holiday and the anniversary of the Fort’s transfer to the Admiralty, join us as we explore the wider context behind this handover, the subsequent architectural modifications and, most of all, the remarkable stories of these sailors!
After the tour, enjoy a Taste History lunch inspired by a 1942 Royal Navy menu, served in the Fort’s historic British recreation room, now known as the Egmont Hall.

Christmas at the Museum

14th December 2025 – 9.00AM – 5.00PM – National Museum of Natural History, Pjazza Publju, L-Imdina, Malta
On Sunday, 14th December, from 9am to 5pm, Heritage Malta is inviting you to ‘Christmas at the Museum’, an enchanting festive experience like no other at the National Museum of Natural History. Step into a world where nature, history, and the magic of Christmas come together in the heart of Mdina.
As you walk through the grand Baroque doors into the majestic front courtyard of the 18th-century Vilhena Palace, hosting a large Christmas tree as its centrepiece, the air will be filled with the comforting scent of warming spices and the joyful hum of carols. Once a palace built by Grand Master Antonio Manoel de Vilhena in 1724, this majestic building – later a sanctuary during times of illness and healing – now transforms into a place of seasonal joy and discovery. Inside its high, vaulted halls lie treasures of nature’s past, including a 4,000-year-old mummified Nile crocodile, the tooth of a giant prehistoric shark, delicate butterflies frozen in time, and the fossils of long-lost creatures.
Visitors, especially families and children, will delight in a day of festive activities, live music, and creative exploration. Father Christmas himself will await in a magical corner, ready to listen to children’s wishes and collect their letters.
A fascinating programme of events, tailored for people of all ages, awaits visitors on the day:
Arrival of Santa Claus at 9:00am (Santa will remain on site until 5:00pm, posing for photos with visitors and receiving children’s letters)
