Valletta & Ta’ Xbiex Harbour Area

While Valletta wins the iconic and quaint contest of locations within the central harbour area, there is still one nook that comes close—Ta’ Xbiex, perfect place for those who want to buy a home or rent property in a quiet area yet a central location. This tiny gem is a piece of jutting land on the shore between Msida and Gżira, opposite the view of Valletta’s Marsamxetto side.

Arguably owning some of the most prestigious addresses in Malta, Ta’ Xbiex is home to hotels, British-era mansions and embassies adorning its streets. Apart from a gorgeous promenade along the sea, along which one finds the Royal Malta Yacht Club, the one-of-a-kind Black Pearl ship-restaurant, the Water Polo Club.

Whether starting from Ta’ Xbiex or from Valletta, the walk to and for is quite a beautiful one, especially because it is one long promenade! You can begin exploring the breathtaking gardens of Floriana on the way down to the Pieta shore, where the promenade starts all the way through Msida on to Ta’ Xbiex and beyond to Gżira, Sliema & St Julian’s.

And whether you’re into history, architecture or local life, there’s something for everyone—incredibly this area boasts architecture from as early as the 17th century on to the 19th century and 20th, from fortifications, palazzos, gardens, mansions, churches and homes. Cafes and restaurants are plentiful too. There is also a hidden-in-broad-daylight gem that definitely deserves exploring: a large grove of trees in the hustle and bustle of city life, Jubliee Grove or the Pinetum, found akin the Portes de Bombes.

Indeed, wonders never cease…..
